Tadabbur Ramadhan #1 - surah al-Fatihah (the Opening)

1. When we recite the prayer during the sixth verse: “ihdinas siratal mustaqim” we are praying for hidayah and huda (guidance) from Allah.

Allah replies in the very next surah (al-Baqarah) in verse 2 and 5:

“Al-Quran (as a whole) is a hidayah/huda for those who possess taqwa”

“Those are people who are on the path of guidance (by practising the verse 3 and 4)”

Therefore, to gain guidance we need to read Quran as well as performing prayers, infaq (charity) as well as having deep faith in revelations.

2. When we read the last verse – “not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.”

Those who have evoked Allah’s anger are described in surah al-Baqarah

Those who are astray are described in surah Ali Imran.

The first 5 juz of al-Quran is a description and guide so that we can maintain on the straight path.

3. The very first verse of al-Quran mentions about ‘the Lord of the universe’ and the very last verse in the Quran (surah an-nas) mentions ‘Jinn and Humans’

4. Surah al-Fatihah is among the easiest surah in term of tajweed rules so that it is always easy to be learned, recited, and memorized.
